CD PROJEKT RED unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered at gamescom Opening Night Live. The remaster launches on September 29, 2026, and the first look at the new paid expansion Songs of the Past was also revealed that day.
The key announcement is that a free-upgrade remaster and a new expansion planned for 2027 were unveiled together.
Remaster Launching on September 29
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A native Nintendo Switch 2 version and a Battle.net version will also be available on September 29, 2026.
Existing owners of The Witcher 3 can receive Remastered as a free upgrade on eligible platforms. However, the scope and feature differences of the free upgrade by platform require additional official clarification.
The remaster includes the following improvements:
- Graphics and performance
- Combat and movement
- Witcher Sign effects
- Horse controls and monster behavior
- Skill tree and transmog
- Photo mode and finishers
Remastered is being co-developed by Yigsoft.
Songs of the Past Planned for 2027
Songs of the Past is a new paid expansion for The Witcher 3. Its exact release date and price have not yet been announced, and it is scheduled for release in 2027.
The expansion is set in the new region of Letten. There, Geralt will encounter new quests, characters, and secrets, as well as face new enemies. It will also include new mutagens and a weapon called the chain. The chain was introduced as a reference to the opening cinematic of the first The Witcher game.
Songs of the Past is planned for release on the following platforms and stores.

Songs of the Past is being co-developed by Fool’s Theory. CD PROJEKT RED announced that it will host an expansion showcase at gamescom from August 26 to 30, 2026.

The details confirmed by official materials so far are the remaster’s September 29, 2026 release date, supported platforms, the free-upgrade announcement, and the planned 2027 release and key setting of Songs of the Past.
By contrast, the expansion’s exact release date, price, detailed sales conditions, and the scope and feature differences of the free upgrade by platform have not yet been confirmed. It is therefore difficult to make definitive claims about undisclosed story details or final content in advance.
