Rain is expected across most of South Korea on August 30. The most notable part of this forecast is the expected rainfall in the Chungcheong region. From August 30–31, Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungnam are expected to receive 80–150 mm of rain, with more than 200 mm possible in some areas. Chungbuk is forecast to receive 50–100 mm, with more than 150 mm possible in some areas.

Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Gwangju·Jeonnam may see intense rain of 20–30 mm per hour through the morning of August 30. This is a forecast for the specified regions and time period; it does not mean the same amount of rainfall will apply nationwide.
The key is to distinguish between “rain nationwide” and “relatively heavy rain in the Chungcheong region.”
Chungnam Province activates a Level 1 emergency response
Chungnam Province proactively activated a Level 1 regional disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters beginning at midnight on August 30. If a heavy rain advisory is issued, officials plan to inspect controls in high-risk areas and evacuation procedures for residents, while strengthening surveillance and access controls in areas at risk of landslides, as well as rivers, valleys, and underpasses.
Based only on the confirmed materials, it cannot be concluded that nationwide property damage or casualties have occurred. This report concerns the forecast and the local government’s response plans.
