Yoon Ga-eun’s The World of Love won Best Picture. But counting awards by film, Hope took home the most. The results differ depending on whether you’re looking for the Best Picture winner or the film that won across the most categories.
Best Picture and the five-award haul went to different films
The 35th Buil Film Awards selected winners across 16 categories, including Best Picture, acting, directing, and technical awards. Best Picture went to The World of Love, and Seo Su-bin also won Best Actress for the film, giving it awards in two categories.
Hope won in five categories: Best Director for Na Hong-jin, Best Supporting Actor for Eum Moon-suk, Best New Actress for Jung Ho-yeon, Best Cinematography for Hong Kyung-pyo, and the art category of the Art & Technical Award for Lee Hoo-kyung. Across all 16 categories, Hope won the most awards of any film. The Best Picture winner and the film with the most wins were different.

The number of nominations differs from the number of wins
In the nominations announced before the ceremony, Hope was named in eight categories and The World of Love in six. Nomination counts reflect the pre-ceremony list, while award counts reflect the final results. The two figures should be considered separately.
Who won the acting awards and Star of the Year awards?
Yoo Hae-jin of The King's Warden won Best Actor, and Seo Su-bin of The World of Love won Best Actress. The top acting awards were split between two films. Park Ji-hoon and Jeon Mi-do of The King's Warden won Male and Female Star of the Year, respectively. Including Yoo Hae-jin’s Best Actor award, the film won in three categories.
Yeom Hye-ran of No Other Choice won Best Supporting Actress, and Jo Yoo-hyun of 3670 won Best New Actor. Kim Yu-min, director of Bayam Island, won Best New Director. These acting and newcomer awards were counted as separate categories from Best Picture and the total number of wins by film.
Screenwriting, music, and the art award
The Screenwriting Award was shared by Byun Sung-hyun and Lee Jin-seong for Good News. Lee Min-hwi of Pavane won the Music Award. The Yoo Hyun-mok Film Art Award was awarded posthumously to the late film critic Im Jae-cheol.
The story of The World of Love and the ceremony
According to the Jeonju International Film Festival’s program description, The World of Love follows Joo-in, an 18-year-old who is the only student in her class to refuse a petition proposed by a classmate. Afterward, she begins receiving anonymous notes.
The ceremony took place on October 7, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of Signiel Busan in Busan, hosted by Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee. The advance announcement said an open talk with the Star of the Year winners would follow the ceremony and that the full event would be streamed exclusively on Naver CHZZK.
Awards divided among Best Picture, most wins, and acting honors
For the Best Picture winner, look to The World of Love; for the film with the most category wins, Hope; and for the Best Actor and Star of the Year awards, The King's Warden. These three films had distinct award results.
